Subject:New Spirituality, Esotericism & Healing conference, Northampton, MA
Security:Public

Hi everyone!

This is the first year of "Changing Times, Changing Worlds," and it looks a bit like an effort to start an East Coast Pantheacon. It's quite inexpensive -- $40 if you register before July 20, and the fee goes up in $10 increments to a maximum of $60 at the door. The con features a number of well-known Pagan writers and presenters, including Raven Kaldera, Jane Sibley, Tchipakkan, and Kirk White. I'm teaching a workshop myself ("Preventing Witch Wars: Managing Overlapping Roles in Pagan Communities"). The conference is billing itself as "interfaith," and it looks like a range of presenters from other religious traditions will be sharing on esoteric topics as well.

In addition to focusing on healing and prosperity, the conference is looking to move beyond introductory topics and into material that will be of interest to intermediate and advanced practitioners.

Changing Times, Changing Worlds
November 12-14, 2010
Northampton, MA
Clarion Hotel

You can register and get a great deal of information at the website:

Subject:Fall Semester at Cherry Hill Seminary
Security:Public

Dear friends,

With increasing numbers of scholarly publications and its own well-established program group at the American Academy of Religion, Contemporary Pagan Studies has been making great strides forward in rigor and credibility. The creation of a viable Pagan intellectual culture -- along with the ability to dialogue effectively with others in both scholarly and religious contexts -- is one aspect of what will allow Pagans a place of respect on both local interfaith councils and in global meetings like the Parliament of World's Religions.

I am excited and proud to be involved with Cherry Hill Seminary, where I serve as instructor and head of the Nature, Deity, and Inspiration department. Cherry Hill Seminary provides professional training for Pagan ministry in a mostly on-line format. Degree candidates are required to participate in a small number of in-person, face-to-face academic intensives before graduation. Read more...Collapse )

Although registration for our next semester won't open until July 15, I'm very excited about the classes we'll be offering this Fall! FDN (4-week) and PCE (semester-long) courses are community education classes open to all; the rest are Master's-level and require a bachelor's degree or instructor's permission. You can enroll in classes without being a matriculating student (in other words, without a plan to complete a degree program).

FDN: Research and Writing in Pagan Studies - Potts
FDN: Why Magickal Thinking Isn't Crazy - Dobyns
FDN: Effective Website Development for Pagan Organizations - Mohnkern
PCE/NDI: Erotic Ethics - Kraemer
PCE: Rites of Passage - Arthen
PCE: The Warrior in Shadow: Violence From a Pagan Perspective - Rifkin
PCE: Call of the Dark Mother - Bennett

NDI/PAL: Paganism and the Body - Kraemer
NDI/TTI: American Spiritualities - Whedon
NDI/TTI: A Saunter with John Muir and Walt Whitman: The Poetry and Politics of Nature - Highland
PAL: Religion and the Law - Bianchi
PAL: Spirit of Economics - Levitt
PAL: Starting a Spiritually Centered Business or Organization - Levitt
PPC: Human Development in a Pagan Context - Mason
PPC: Personality Theories - Oringderff
TTI: Contemporary Global Paganisms - Kraemer
TTI: Western Initiation: Theories and Issues - Winslade

Whether you're looking for a complete Master's program or simply to acquire some specific knowledge or skills, Cherry Hill has a great deal to offer. We particularly celebrate the efforts of covens and small communities to raise funds for their leaders and facilitators to study ministry skills at Cherry Hill and encourage other interested students to do the same.

Because accreditation is a time-consuming and expensive process, we also appreciate your donations. Building a seminary takes years, and our dedicated staff and instructors put in large numbers of volunteer hours. Please spread the word about our work!

Best,
Christine Hoff Kraemer

Turn On Your (Psychic) Light
with T. Thorn Coyle

March 13-14, 2010

During this highly experiential workshop, we will play games, practice psychic skills, get in touch with our God Soul and our Guides, learn to distinguish among various types of information and impulses, talk about centering and boundary work and do readings for each other.

*******

IRON PENTACLE

Sierra, Sarah & Ash (John) are proud to be offering Iron Pentacle, one
of the Reclaiming tradition of Witchcraft's core classes.

This is one of our favorite classes, focusing on traits we often
discount but are part of everyone: sex, pride, self, power and
passion. These traits are at the heart of our strength, but they are
also places where many of us carry wounds. The prerequisite for this
class is the Elements of Magic or by permission of instructors.Read more...Collapse )

Where does one go for basic ritual supplies in the Boston-metro area?

There's a few things I need and I'd rather not truck up to Salem.

Thanks!

Elements of Magic in Boston (Cambridge)

A Weekend Intensive with Sarah & Ash (John)
Friday, September 19 - Sunday, September 21

Magic is the art of changing consciousness at will. By working with the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit we prepare ourselves to change the world. We create magical space, sense and project energy, chant, trance, craft spells, design rituals, and employ our powers of visualization and sacred movement. "Elements of Magic" is a core workshop in the Reclaiming tradition of witchcraft (http://www.reclaiming.org), though you don't need to be part of this tradition to participate. We intend to provide a fair and nurturing environment for all participants. The workshop is suitable both as an introduction to Witchcraft for seekers, and as an introduction to Reclaiming practice for more experienced practitioners.

Come out, come out to the Viriditas New Moon ritual in Boston (Somerville), MA this Thursday night! Support your personal intentions for growth and help to protect Diana's Grove.

The New Moon liturgy that we use every month is inspired by material from Diana's Grove (http://www.dianasgrove.com), a wonderful spiritual retreat center and mystery school in the Ozarks. Diana's Grove is currently threatened by devastating logging on adjacent land. They have worked out a plan by which they can preserve some of the land by purchasing it. We can help by raising funds to send them. We'll do some money magic in ritual so that we can all partake of the abundance, and all donations to Viriditas this month will go directly to Diana's Grove, so consider bringing a little extra cash if you value the work we do and you want to give back to the source. If you cannot attend on Thursday donations for Viriditas to send to Diana's Grove can be sent by PayPal to sierraleahblack@yahoo.com. More information about what's happening at Diana's Grove is available here: http://www.dianasgrove.com/landproposal.html
